Whittington House comprises approximately 65,000ft² office space and was designed by Swiss-British architect, Richard Seifert, in the early 70s. Its iconic façade of pointed windows set flush into polished black granite is currently being considered for Listed status.
The client wished to maximise the net lettable office space in the property, and appointed us to undertake a feasibility study.
Our comprehensive study covered a full refurbishment of services, relocating the top floor mechanical plant rooms to release this floor space for additional office accommodation.
We proposed a range of options; from maximising the efficiency of the current building form through to extending.
A detailed phasing strategy for the plant relocation had to be thoroughly planned as the building would remain occupied throughout.
