The significant new, 620,937 ft² scheme will regenerate disused industrial land, creating 423 residential apartments within three high-rise buildings. The ground floor of each building will accommodate a number of retail units, creating a public-realm podium level above.
We are designing detailed mechanical, electrical, public health services and lifts within each residential block. The scope of our engagement encompasses shell-and-core provisions for the retail units.
To achieve the client’s stringent efficiency credentials we scoped-out a comprehensive energy strategy using dynamic simulation modelling. The resultant output of our carefully calculated designs will be zero-carbon apartments and BREEAM ‘excellent’ retail units.
These criteria have been achieved through a collaborative ‘web’ of highly efficient design solutions including mechanical ventilation with heat recovery units to apartments, optimised natural daylight potential, photovoltaic technology providing renewable electricity (PV units have been integrated within the roof garden design), and provisions for future connection to a district heating network.
