Science Museum: Information Age
The Science Museum’s ‘Information Age’ is a 24,000 ft² exhibit that houses six zones exploring key events that shaped the influence of connectivity on our lives today. By its very nature the installation is made up of numerous and complex services encompassing sophisticated lighting, audio-visual and IT; many of which are required to interact seamlessly with each other.
Having undertaken the initial surveys and feasibility studies, our full MEP and lift designs were created with a strong emphasis on low energy and passive solutions.
We dedicated several weeks to commission each element of the exhibit, carefully ensuring performance and functionality meet our exacting standards. In this particular instance the demand for excellence couldn’t have been higher as Her Majesty The Queen officially opened the exhibit, sending her first Tweet using the services we designed.
Information Age has subsequently been selected as one of seven finalists for Best Heritage Project in the National Lottery Awards.
CLIENT: The Science Museum
"The Estates and Project teams have a high regard for SVM as and utilise their services on a regular basis. They are a professional organisation, well organised and carry out all commissions with diligence and in a timely and thorough manner. Particularly satisfying is the attention they pay to the final commissioning and handover procedures which ensure a smooth and trouble-free transition of responsibility from the Contractor to the Estates team."
