The compact, 142,937 ft² triangular site will house a 24-storey, mixed-use property. A 140-bedroom hotel will occupy the first 11 levels, with 48 apartments arranged over the remaining 12 floors.
We are creating the concept design of all mechanical, electrical, public health systems and lifts for the development. Our responsibilities also include the compilation of detailed early energy modelling and calculations to demonstrate how the building will achieve GLA 35% (better than part L 2013), and assist with planning approval.
Our Energy Studio has played a crucial role in creation of efficient, practical designs within both the hotel and residential elements of this development. We used dynamic simulation modelling to design the high-performance building envelope boasting good air tightness to minimise heat losses. The building façade is wrapped in vertical fins to reduce unwanted solar gain, whilst passive ventilation to apartments helps mitigate against overheating. We deliver a low carbon energy solution through mechanical ventilation with heat recovery units, combined heat and power technology, and high efficiency lighting with intelligent daylight control systems.
