Greenwich Millennium Village: block 201
Greenwich Millennium Village is the first of the Government’s Millennium Communities, developed on a brownfield site at the southern end of the Greenwich Peninsula. We have been appointed to develop the energy strategy and engineering systems for the third phase of the scheme.
When complete, phase three will comprise 1,800 new high-specification homes, primarily in mid/high-rise buildings. All apartments are rated as a Code Level 4 for Sustainable Homes. The site also comprises a number of commercial and community buildings, all of which will be designed to meet our client’s building performance and energy efficiency measures.
In addition to mechanical, electrical, public health and lift services designs, we have taken on a client technical advisory role. A range of passive and active energy management measures are being incorporated into our designs. These include a district energy network and large energy centre, photovoltaics, CHP technology, and low energy lights with daylight sensing. Energy display devices will be installed in each apartment, enabling purchasers to help reduce energy use.
