Florence Nightingale Museum
The Florence Nightingale Museum is located in the grounds of St Thomas’s Hospital. It was initially founded in 1989 and, having had no upgrades since its opening, the Board of Trustees commissioned an extensive programme of improvement.
We were appointed to undertake mechanical and electrical designs for the project, with additional site supervision responsibilities. Electrical services were replaced in their entirety, whilst all mechanical services were still viable, requiring only refurbishment works. The floors above the museum remained occupied throughout the works, and our planning ensured that the building services that passed through the museum to this space were uninterrupted.
Our designs enabled the exhibit space to be re-shaped into three ‘pavilions’. The new electrical services supply a number of interactive exhibits; dramatic effect lighting, touch-screen technology, and audio hot spots at key points.
