Bentley House comprises 15,000ft² of space arranged over 4 floors. The Trust wished to refurbish the property to accommodate out-patient mental health care facilities and admin support space.
We were appointed to undertake the modernisation of building services to the property, adapting and retaining as many of the existing services as possible.
Our mechanical and public health services included the inspection of all existing split air-conditioning units, relocation of radiators where necessary, and the extension of existing domestic hot water and drainage services. We included a new heat recovery supply and extract ventilation system to serve all areas of the property, and an energy efficient VRF air-conditioning system to serve a number of south-facing consultation rooms that are subject to overheating in the summer months. LST radiators were specified on the new heating circuit. The original 1970s domestic hot water calorifier was replaced with an efficient and more cost-effective unvented cylinder.
Extensions and modifications were made to the existing small power systems, with the addition of new efficient LED lighting, panic alarms, an access control system, and a whole-building fire system.
