AUDLEY Binswood Hall
Binswood Hall is a Grade II listed Victorian building with striking, gothic features. It was constructed in 1847 to serve as a school and, having fallen into disuse for a short time, has been redeveloped as a luxury, 90-bed retirement village.
We were appointed to undertake the final phases of this scheme encompassing both the redevelopment of the main, listed building as well as several new-build blocks. Our duties included mechanical, electrical and public health engineering designs as well as lift services. Throughout the scheme we embedded a number of sustainable features including high-efficiency boilers, whole house ventilation, heat recovery systems and LED lighting.
The village is made up of one- and two-bedroom apartments, primarily in the new-build blocks. The Hall itself forms the central hub of the village, housing the communal facilities: restaurant, bar / bistro, gym, spa, swimming pool and library.
We continue to act as Audley’s representative, monitoring the contractor’s works and witnessing / commissioning on site.
