Lighting Design

With over a million square feet of very varied accommodation, many different lighting solutions were needed.

The lighting for the storage shelves was developed with full-scale mock-up and testing of vertical illuminance at the lower levels. In areas visited infrequently, lighting is individually switched using an auto timer system, which extinguishes the circuit after 7 minutes to reduce energy wastage.

In addition to lighting VDUs in offices, there are many public spaces and exhibition areas which SVM have lit.

In the public spaces, lighting is controlled by their own multi-scene systems, which are networked to a central processor in the main control room. This permits preset scenes to be selected depending on the time of day and function to be selected.

Office lighting is controlled by an automatic control system, providing a flexible re-programmable control, which allows the re-grouping of circuits with switches depending on the office partition arrangements.
