CIVIC TRUST AWARDS 2009

SVM was involved in The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum that gained a Commendation in the competition this year.

"This is a successful civic building and makes a real contribution to the public realm.  It transforms the historic centre of Coventry and links a busy street with the quieter spaces of the square and cathedral." CIVIC TRUST

CIVIC TRUST AWARDS 2005

SVM was involved in two projects that gained recognition at the Civic Trust Awards in 2005.  The Brindley Arts Centre received the Centre Vision Award and Fitzwilliam Museum a Commendation at these awards.

Both projects won against strong competition - there were over 500 entries in total and it is to our credit that two projects have been singled out for recognition.

The Centre Vision Award was for a well thought through and well-designed building that contributes greatly to the improvement of the town centre.
Commendations are awarded to projects that do not qualify for an Award, but which nevertheless have been exceptionally well designed and benefit their local environment or community.

RIBA AWARDS

Both these projects also received RIBA Awards in 2005 for their high quality Mechanical and Electrical design within the Architectural detail.

Brindley Arts Centre

"Externally the building's position is a good response to its immediate environment, using the canal side to generate views and provide a generous cafe terrace.  It sits well in its context and landscape and has been carefully considered.  A great deal has been achieved with the available budget." RIBA

Fitzwilliam Museum

"This seamless insertion into the Grade 1 listed building was handled with almost clinical precision, and belied the considerable technical difficulties of construction.  It acts as a catalyst combining and reorganising new and old spaces with ingenuity and imagination." RIBA
